Prabowo Highlights the Needs of the Minister of Disaster, Imitation of Russia

LensaAktual. Candidates for President Prabowo Subianto said there was a need for a special minister to handle disasters. This is not separated from Indonesia's position in the ring of fire which is prone to natural disasters.

"We already know that our country is in a region full of natural disasters; earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions. That is the risk of an archipelagic country in the ring of fire, in the southern Pacific," Prabowo said in Prabowo Subianto's National Year Lecture, in Hambalang , Bogor, which was uploaded on his Facebook page on Sunday.

"In many countries, the minister who deals with natural disasters is one of the most important ministers. Russia, the minister is a four-star general," he continued.

According to Prabowo, the risk of major natural disasters in Indonesia must be addressed with complete preparation in terms of technology and disaster logistics. For example, food reserves, clothing, medicines, and also rapid reaction teams.

"We have to be prepared. How are we ready for technology, reserves, economic power, food warehouses, warehouse warehouses, clothing, medicines, teams that can react immediately, must be prepared under the control of an organization," he said.
He said this was related to the condition of a just and prosperous state. That, there must be guarantees from the state about security, food, energy and water.

Meanwhile, the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) coordinates the rescue and search or rescue operations of disaster victims. While the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) are responsible for supplying information regarding potential disasters.

In the BPNB's records throughout 2018 there were thousands of disasters that hit Indonesia, thousands of people were killed, thousands of families lost their homes and millions became refugees.
